Station Stories - WTF?!?

Some lady calls and asks what kind of music we play, I tell her, "tejano, cumbia, and other Latino music." I guess she was expecting a top 40 station because she giggles says, "that's terrible, oh well good bye." and hangs up. What the hell? I can understand her not wanting to listen to this station, believe me, I understand, but she could have just asked for station recommendation, 'cause I would have directed her to our sister station. I'm not offended or anything, I just think she could have stood to be a bit more tactful.

Nearly Had A Heart Attack Last Night.

This building is going to hell, let me set the scene for you. It's late, I'm tired, and it's pitch black in most of the station. I'm locking up for the night after the Eagles were narrowly defeated by the Warriors, and I hear two loud thumps/crashes from inside the station. Now, I'm content to go home and let the burglar take what he wants, so I lock the door and dead bolt, but I forgot the padlock inside and I can't leave the gate open.

I head out to the car and call my old man, I ask if he'll swing by and back me up but he says no, jerk. So I grab the car's Club, you know that thing that locks the steering wheel, to wield as, well, a club. I go back in the building and do a room by room search until I come to the men's room. I hit the lights and find the culprit!

The friggin' wall mirror!

The thing had been hung on a tiny finishing nail and finally fell, hitting the sink, the first thump/crash, then the ajar door, the second thump/crash. Miraculously it didn't break, although I was tempted to smash the damn thing myself for the grief it had caused me.

The Stench Is Unbearable.

There is something dead and rotting in the air shafts here. The mask comes off when the smell stops.

Station Stories - ATTACK! Of the giant insect!

We were attacked today by a huge cicada. The office girls were freaking out. I had to rescue them. It took a can of wasp spray, a can of multi-purpose insecticide, and my foot to finish it off.

Station Stories

I have a newfound respect for radio DJs from "back in the day". I had to run two stations on the fly for about three hours today, all off cds. I an so stressed. I'm gonna catch War tonight, review'll be up tomorow. Later

*** The station really should have some emergency rain gear.

There's No Way the Power Could Go Ou...

It happened about an hour ago, and let me tell you, it was scary as hell. There are only a few windows and even went the shades are open they let in very little light, but today I just had to close the damn things. When the lights went out I couldn't see a thing, but then I used my cell's screen to light my way to the MAG-LITE they keep here. I hung out for a few minutes and waited for the power to come back on. When it did, I rebooted all the computers, got the play lists back on schedule, and went out back to the transmitter shack so I could check it. It was kind of a feather ruffling day but every thing's copacetic again.

In other news, the universe is against me. The last 10 point code I needed to have 777 points was illegible. Then again, I did get my free 20oz Coke coupon in the mail today, so I guess I'll let it slide.

Noon to Six 4 Day Marathon

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday...

Filling in for one of the other DJs while he fills in for our news director, but who's gonna fill in for me? My couch isn't going to sit on itself, and my TV isn't going to watch itself. Whatever, all these extra hours mean a fat check come the 20th.

Better Days @ Work are Ahead

The computer is working again, good thing too. I almost had to spend my 4th of July manually running local commercials for twelve (12) hours.

Bad Fing Day @ Work

Our ISP is down, so I can't get the network's play list.
Plus, our server's RAM was cutting edge in 1986 so it
keeps crashing on me. I'll be fine if I can just make
it to 4pm.
