Station Stories - WTF?!?

Some lady calls and asks what kind of music we play, I tell her, "tejano, cumbia, and other Latino music." I guess she was expecting a top 40 station because she giggles says, "that's terrible, oh well good bye." and hangs up. What the hell? I can understand her not wanting to listen to this station, believe me, I understand, but she could have just asked for station recommendation, 'cause I would have directed her to our sister station. I'm not offended or anything, I just think she could have stood to be a bit more tactful.

60 Second Movie Review - Alvin and the Chipmunks

I did not expect the movie to be as good as it was. Excellent way to kill an hour and a half. One thing I didn't like was Dave's ALLLLVIN! Jason Lee is great as Dave, but his Alvin scream just doesn't cut it.

60 Second Movie Review - National Treasure: Book of Secrets

Critics keep calling this "The Da Vinci Code Lite", and what's wrong with that? I loved this movie, you will too. You might also learn something, I did, I had no idea that there are two replicas of the Statue of Liberty in Paris. I personally want Riley to get his own movie, "Do you know what the taxes on 5 million dollars are, SIX million dollars!"

The Last Man on Earth and The Omega Man have nothing on this movie. Never before have I seen the mind numbing madness of being the last man on Earth so well communicated as in this movie.

Nearly Had A Heart Attack Last Night.

This building is going to hell, let me set the scene for you. It's late, I'm tired, and it's pitch black in most of the station. I'm locking up for the night after the Eagles were narrowly defeated by the Warriors, and I hear two loud thumps/crashes from inside the station. Now, I'm content to go home and let the burglar take what he wants, so I lock the door and dead bolt, but I forgot the padlock inside and I can't leave the gate open.

I head out to the car and call my old man, I ask if he'll swing by and back me up but he says no, jerk. So I grab the car's Club, you know that thing that locks the steering wheel, to wield as, well, a club. I go back in the building and do a room by room search until I come to the men's room. I hit the lights and find the culprit!

The friggin' wall mirror!

The thing had been hung on a tiny finishing nail and finally fell, hitting the sink, the first thump/crash, then the ajar door, the second thump/crash. Miraculously it didn't break, although I was tempted to smash the damn thing myself for the grief it had caused me.

60 Second Movie Review - Beowulf

Blasphemers! This film was heavilly edited. I could tell. How does a film with a red-band trailer get a pg-13 rating? Even with the film's editorial handicaps, it kicked so much ass, a must see movie.

120 Second Moviegoing Rant - Understaffed

The Cinemark theater in Eagle Pass, TX is severely understaffed. I've been facing longer and longer lines for tickets and snacks these days, and it's because there aren't enough employees to go around. Job searchers in Eagle Pass:

60 Second Movie Review - D-War

I dragged myself to the theater, literally, I had wrenched my right ankle in my sleep, had to hobble there on a cane, and finally saw it, kinda disappointed.

60 second movie review - Resident Evil: Extinction

Kick ass movie, heads up, ends with another awesome cliff-hanger, here's looking forward to "Resident Evil: Vengeance"*. Also the guy playing Wesker is tolerable, but he looks like Joaquin Phoenix, they really should have gotten Robert Patrick the T-1000, tell me he wouldn't be the perfect Wesker. Interesting side note, Patrick was in Walk the Line with Joaquin Phoenix, playing Johnny Cash's father.

So, effin' awesome.

Fleshes out Michael Myers' early years then moves on to his time in the sanitarium followed by his escape and 2nd Halloween massacre. Shaking My Monkey Tree

The people in this town are savages. I was out last night taking advantage of the tax free weekend by buying some new pants. I leave my cart for five minutes to try them on, and when I come back, my friggin' cart was gone. Whoever took it, emptied it out and took my cart. What the hell? This person couldn't be bothered to get a cart from the front of the store? Which, I add, was like fifty yards away. The world is in a truly sad state when you can't leave your shopping cart for five minutes to try on some pants.

I guess you could say they caught me with my pants around my ankles.

1-18-08 Uber Theory

Theory!

Noriko Yoshida, the "Slusho Lady" disappeared at sea looking for the next big ingredient for Slusho.

Her son, a scientist, made a new deep sea discovery. He had a prophetic dream leading him to use the ingredient in Slusho.

Slusho.jp is not in English, but in Engrish, Engrish refers to grammatically incorrect variations of English, often found in East Asian countries.

"Slusho is people." might mean "Slusho is made from living creatures."

When making Slusho in the flavors section on Slusho.jp, the flavors you add are followed by a glowing lotus.

Maybe the monster's food.

No! The secret ingredient is not the monster or it's food, it's the monster's children!!!

If strange creatures were stealing my food, I'd find another source, or kill the thieves.

What would make me leave the sea, my home, and go on a rampage? If they were stealing my babies and eating them, that's what.

The guy from 1-18-08news.com said anyone who drank Slusho was a target for the monster, this is why, it can sense its children's remains in their bowels.

Note: this was originally a response to a post on someone else's' blog, but it was so good, I put it on my blog instead.

Theory About Dates

On September 22nd, 2007, there will be 118 days left before the opening of the movie.

On October 28th, , 2007, 118 days will have passed since the release on the trailer with Transformers (July 2nd, 2007).

On September 22nd, 2007, Oktoberfeft begins in Munich.

On October 28th, 2007, European Summer Time will end.

Past events on September 22:
-1959 - In Chicago, air raid sirens are sounded at 10:30 PM for five minutes, causing many residents to fear the start of a nuclear war. The Chicago White Sox had just won the American League pennant, their first pennant in 40 years, and city officials had ordered the sounding in celebration.
-1991 - The Dead Sea Scrolls are made available to the public for the first time, by the Huntington Library.
-2004 - Lost, ABC's hit TV show, premiered on this day, as well as Flight 815 Crashed

Past events on October 28:
-1886 - In New York Harbor, President Grover Cleveland dedicates the Statue of Liberty.
-1962 - Cuban Missile Crisis: Soviet Union leader Nikita Khrushchev announces that he had ordered the removal of Soviet missile bases in Cuba.

Pretty heavy huh?

Then there's the big day it self...

On January 18, 2008, nothing big, other than the movie, is happening. Yet...

Past Events On January 18:
- I couldn't find anything interesting here either.

Now that... is wierd.

120 Second Moviegoing Rant - Cell phones

People please, turn off you goddamn cell phone in the theater. You paid to watch the movie, so sit down, shut up, and watch the damn movie. Who do you think you are? How effin' important do you think you are that you have to be able to be reached at any moment. If you're expecting a call, either don't see the movie or quietly answer phone, with the the ringer off, and take it outside damn it. Saw Hairspray, so awesome! Great music, great choreography, and great acting. I've been waiting to see Christopher Walken dance again since 2001's weapon of choice, and who wouldn't want to see John Travolta as a singing, dancing, plus sized woman?. Plus this new girl Nikki Blonsky is going places. All in all a great movie, a great musical, and most of all a great time.

I give it ****1/2.

120 Second Moviegoing Rant - Hairspray

Saw Hairspray today, 'rents if your kiddies loved High School Musical, keep them the hell away from the theater. I was lucky enough to have the bare minimum of little kids at the screening I went to, it was mostly older movie goers like myself and teenagers, but there was the obligatory couple who refused to shell out for a sitter and dragged their kids, who didn't want to go, along. If they aren't going to sit still and watch the movie, then leave the twerps at home.

There's No Way the Power Could Go Ou...

It happened about an hour ago, and let me tell you, it was scary as hell. There are only a few windows and even went the shades are open they let in very little light, but today I just had to close the damn things. When the lights went out I couldn't see a thing, but then I used my cell's screen to light my way to the MAG-LITE they keep here. I hung out for a few minutes and waited for the power to come back on. When it did, I rebooted all the computers, got the play lists back on schedule, and went out back to the transmitter shack so I could check it. It was kind of a feather ruffling day but every thing's copacetic again.

In other news, the universe is against me. The last 10 point code I needed to have 777 points was illegible. Then again, I did get my free 20oz Coke coupon in the mail today, so I guess I'll let it slide.
